Our Programs and Classes

So what will your child be doing at Pumpkin Shell all day? Plenty. A typical day includes many opportunities for growth and exploration. Preschool is about getting children excited about school and learning. We accomplish these goals through direct sensory experiences. Each day your child will be exposed to new and exciting hands-on centers as well as focused group time to assist them in exploring the world they live in. With a teacher/student ratio of approximately 1:8, your child will be given the attention they need to thrive.

Programs

2.5 - 3 year old program

In this program, your child will work on fundamental life skills, basic academic concepts, and establishing routines. Before beginning this program, we require that your child be potty-trained. 

3-4 year old program

The 3 and 4 year old program focuses on instructing your child to begin to self regulate in many areas. The first semester will include reinforcement of basic academic concepts, as well as focused attention on strengthening fine motor skills. Recognizing their name, numbers, and colors are usually mastered in this class. 

4-5 year old program

As the final year of preschool, our 4 and 5 year old program builds on the basic skills previously learned as well as emphasizes pre-reading skills through stimulating instruction and engaging hands-on activities. Phonics, Alphabet Skills, and Comprehension are core features of this class.

Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten program offers a challenging and rewarding year of phonics, math, social studies, and social skills. Our degree holding teachers provide quality instruction that makes our program stand out among others. On average, graduates of our kindergarten program go on to be highly successful in public school.

Extra Curricular Activities

Pumpkin Shell also offers opportunities for your child to participate in extra curricular activities including foreign languages, computer classes, and a unique Music/Math program.
